Boss Rush Mode Guide — Endgame Challenge and Rewards
Complete guide to Echoes of Aincrad Boss Rush Mode. How to unlock Boss Rush, all boss waves, reward structure, best builds and strategies, leaderboard system, and tips for achieving high scores.
What Is Boss Rush Mode?
Boss Rush is Echoes of Aincrad's primary endgame challenge mode. Unlocked after clearing Floor 10, Boss Rush pits you against consecutive boss fights with increasing difficulty. The mode tests your combat mastery, build optimization, and stamina management across a gauntlet of Aincrad's toughest encounters.
Unlike the main game, Boss Rush has no exploration, no partner AI, and no healing between waves except what you earn from boss kills. It is pure combat — you against a sequence of bosses with scaling modifiers.
Note on numbers: Echoes of Aincrad does not publish official Boss Rush statistics. Wave layouts, modifiers, and reward figures below are community-reported and may change with patches.

Special Modifiers
Starting from Wave 3, each boss wave has a random rotation of special modifiers:

| Cursed Ground | Arena floor deals 1% HP/sec damage | Stay mobile, never stand still |
| Time Crisis | 90-second clear timer per wave | Maximize DPS, skip defensive play |
| Darkness | Reduced visibility, boss has stealth | Learn attack sounds, use AoE to locate |
| Berserker | Boss enrages immediately (full fight) | Parry discipline is critical |
| Life Steal | Boss heals 10% of damage dealt | Avoid trading hits, burst windows only |

Best Builds for Boss Rush
Boss Rush favors builds that can sustain long fights without healing. Survivability and consistent damage outperform burst-heavy setups.
Tier List for Boss Rush
| Tier | Build | Why |
|---|---|---|
| ------ | ------- | ----- |
| S | Sword & Shield (Vitality build) | Block sustain, Shield Bash stuns, consistent damage |
| S | Greatsword (Strength build) | Charged attacks stagger bosses, high single-target DPS |
| A | Rapier (Dexterity build) | Parry counters deal massive damage, but risky at high waves |
| B | Two-Handed Axe (Strength build) | Good AoE for multi-boss waves, but stamina hungry |
| C | Mace (Vitality build) | Slow clear times make Time Crisis modifier very difficult |
| D | Dagger (Dexterity build) | Too fragile for extended gauntlets, one mistake ends the run |
Recommended EX-Mod Setup
| EX-Mod Slot | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| ------------- | --------------- |
| Slot 1 | Reduced Stamina Cost (mandatory) |
| Slot 2 | Improved Normal Attack or Improved Critical Rate |
| Slot 3 | Improved Block or HP Up |
| Slot 4 | Counter Damage Up or Improved Charge Attack |
Boss Rush Tips and Strategies
General Strategy
- Wave 1-2 are free — use them to build up Combination Skill meter for later waves
- Save healing items for Waves 4-5 — do not use them early
- Learn boss spawn order — position yourself advantageously before the boss appears
- Prioritize the more dangerous boss first in dual-boss waves (usually the faster one)
- Switch Mode does not work here — there is no partner in Boss Rush, so skip partner commands entirely
Wave-Specific Tips
- Wave 3 (Berserker modifier): Parry everything. The boss gains new attack patterns that are telegraphed with longer wind-ups — use these to land counter hits.
- Wave 4 (speed boost): The bosses move 40% faster, making their attack patterns harder to dodge. Back away to reset spacing rather than panic-rolling.
- Wave 5 (all modifiers + hazards): Arena hazards appear as fire geysers or ice patches. Position fights away from hazard spawn points. The Floor 10 boss has a new insta-kill mechanic in Boss Rush — a 5-second charge that must be interrupted with Shield Bash or a heavy stagger.
Leaderboard System
Boss Rush features a global leaderboard ranked by:
- Highest wave cleared (primary metric)
- Clear time (tiebreaker for same wave)
- Damage taken (secondary tiebreaker — lower is better)
Leaderboards reportedly reset monthly, with exclusive cosmetic rewards for top players (community-reported — not officially confirmed). You can view the leaderboard from the Boss Rush entrance in the Town of Beginnings.
