Speedrun Tips & Route Optimization Guide
Comprehensive speedrun strategies for Echoes of Aincrad including floor-by-floor routes, boss speed kill techniques, gear optimization, and time-saving techniques for Any% and Death Game categories.
Introduction
Speedrunning Echoes of Aincrad requires mastering not just combat, but movement, routing, resource management, and glitch exploitation. The game currently has roughly 10 cleared floors — it reportedly launched with two floors, with more added via updates — and current Any% runs of the first 10 floors clock in around 12-16 hours (community-reported).
Note: Speedrun times, skip locations, and percentages below are community-reported and not independently verified.
This guide covers the two primary speedrun categories:
- Any% (Normal Difficulty): Complete the game as fast as possible on Normal. Glitches and skips are allowed.
- Death Game Any%: Complete the game on Death Game difficulty. No deaths allowed. Significantly harder.
A third category, Floor 1-5 Any%, is popular for segmented practice and tournament settings.
Speedrun Route by Floor
Route Philosophy
The optimal speedrun route prioritizes three things:
- Minimize backtracking — every zone visited should progress multiple objectives
- Skip optional content — no side quests, no exploration, no farming unless mandatory
- Sequence break where possible — use glitches to reach areas before intended level
Floor 1 — Town of Beginnings (10-12 minutes)
- Skip tutorial dialog by pressing Escape (PC) or Start (Controller) immediately
- Rush to the first save point, then exit to the Forest Zone
- Skip the Goblin Camp by wall-clipping near the east cliff (requires precise jump against the rock face at x:217, y:84)
- Enter the Forest Dungeon directly
- Violet Fencer Skip: Use the Ambush Bonus opening — charge a heavy attack before aggro range, then chain four Sword Skills before her AI activates
- After the boss, take the warp portal (do not loot)
Floor 2 — Twin Valleys (15-18 minutes)
- Take the left path at the fork (shorter route, more aggressive enemies but fewer environmental puzzles)
- Twin Wardens Speed Kill: Equip the Rapier obtained from Floor 1's hidden chest (behind the waterfall, requires no key)
- Focus the Warden of Blades first using Star Splash spam — each use should deal 8-12% of its HP
- After Blades dies, the Warden of Flames enrages. Do not respect the enrage — stand directly beneath it and spam light attacks. Its AoE cannot hit point-blank range
- Skip the cutscene after the Twin Wardens by pressing Start + A simultaneously (frame-perfect, saves 30 seconds)
Floor 3 — Fae Wilds (20-25 minutes)
- Ignore optional encounters — hug the right wall to navigate the maze faster
- Crystal Golem: Use the Sword & Shield with the Parry EX-Mod. Parry the first hit, counter, repeat. Three parries kill it
- Collect the Dagger from the chest after the Golem (required for Floor 4 skip)
- Skip the optional zones entirely by jumping off the eastern cliff near the golem arena — you land in the Floor 3 checkpoint
Floor 4 (18-22 minutes)
- Use the Dagger's Throw skill to aggro enemies from range and group them for AoE kills
- Route directly to the floor boss — the required path is short once you know it
- Do not explore the west wing — it contains zero required items
Floor 5 — Ancient Library (25-30 minutes)
- Follow the main corridor through the library — skip the side rooms
- The Archivist: This is the first real DPS check. Use the highest-damage EX-Mod loadout available. Save Combination Skills for the 50% phase transition
- After the fight, do not rest at the inn — run directly to the next zone
Floor 6-10 Summary

Boss Speed Kill Strategies
Universal Speed Kill Principles
- Pre-buff before entering the arena: Use the highest-damage food buff, weapon paper (elemental), and an SP regenerator. These stack.
- Ambush Bonus opener: Every boss grants a free crit window on your first hit. Charge the strongest single-hit attack and release as you cross the aggro threshold.
- Animation cancel every recovery: After any Sword Skill connects, dodge-roll immediately to cancel the end-lag. This is mandatory for speed kills.
- Skip phase transitions: Many bosses have a 50% HP phase change with a long animation. If you deal enough damage during the transition window, you can skip the second phase entirely.
- Use Combination Skills at 30%: Most bosses have a final enrage mechanic below 30% HP that makes them harder to hit. Fire your Combination Skill at 30-35% to skip the enrage.
Weapon-Specific Speed Kill Loadouts
| Weapon | Best Speed Kill EX-Mods | Rotation |
|---|---|---|
| -------- | ------------------------ | ---------- |
| Rapier | Star Splash (skill) / Critical Edge / Agile Stance | Star Splash x3 → Dodge cancel → Repeat |
| Dagger | Life Steal / Precise Strike / Momentum | Backstab opener → bleed setup → Precise Strike spam |
| Greatsword | Power Surge / Quick Charge / Berserker | Charge attack → Avalanche → Cancel → Repeat |
| Two-Handed Axe | Blood Price / Power Surge / Vengeance | Buff → Whirlwind spam (ignores boss poise) |
| Sword & Shield | Shield Bash (skill) / Fortress / Parry Master | Parry → Counter → Shield Bash → Repeat |
| Mace | Steel Slam (skill) / Iron Crusher (skill) / Vengeance | Steel Slam (stun) → Iron Crusher (guard break) → Repeat |
The "Burn Phase" Strategy (Any% Only)
For floors 6-10, the optimal speed kill is the Burn Phase: ignore defensive stats completely, allocate all Growth Points into your primary damage stat, and kill the boss before it kills you.
- Minimum Viability: 20+ points in damage stat, weapon upgraded (community-reported threshold)
- Consumables needed: 3x Full Heal Potions, 1x Attack Elixir, 1x SP Regenerator
- Expected kill time: 45-90 seconds per boss (community-reported)
- Risk: One mistake equals death. Do not attempt on Death Game runs.
Gear Optimization for Speed
Minimum Viable Gear for Each Floor
| Floor | Weapon Rarity | Upgrade Level | EX-Mod Count | Stat Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ------- | -------------- | --------------- | -------------- | ------------ |
| 1 | Common | +0 | 1 | 5 |
| 2 | Uncommon | +1 | 2 | 10 |
| 3 | Uncommon | +1 | 2 | 15 |
| 4 | Rare | +2 | 3 | 22 |
| 5 | Rare | +2 | 3 | 30 |
| 6 | Rare | +3 | 3 | 38 |
| 7 | Epic | +3 | 4 | 45 |
| 8 | Epic | +4 | 4 | 52 |
| 9 | Epic | +4 | 4 | 60 |
| 10 | Epic+ | +5 | 5 | 70 |
Consumable Priority
Only carry these consumables during a speedrun:
- Full Heal Potions (Col: 500 each) — buy 10 before Floor 2, restock before Floor 5
- Attack Elixir (Col: 200 each) — one per boss from Floor 3 onwards
- Fire Paper (Col: 300) — apply before fire-weak bosses (community-reported)
- SP Regenerator (Col: 500) — one per major zone
Sell everything else. Some speedrunners report that a heavy load slows dodge rolls, so keep the inventory light.
Time-Saving Techniques
Movement Tech
- Dodge Rolling > Sprinting: Three consecutive dodge rolls cover more distance than 2 seconds of sprinting. Chain dodge rolls for travel.
- Slope Sliding: On any slope steeper than 30 degrees, hold sprint and jump. Your character slides downhill at 2x run speed.
- Ledge Canceling: Approach a ledge, jump, then attack. The attack animation cancels the landing lag, letting you move immediately.
- Wall Jumping: Certain walls have invisible ledges. Jump toward a wall, press jump again within 3 frames, and you mantle to the top. Practice in Town of Beginnings.
Menu Optimization
- Hotkey your potions: Bind Full Heal to a quick slot. Do not open the menu during combat.
- Skip all dialog: Hold the skip button (Escape on PC, B on controller) during cutscenes.
- Use keyboard for menus: Even controller players should use a keyboard for inventory management — it is 3x faster.
- Pre-allocate stats: Know your stat plan before the run. Assign Growth Points within 2 seconds of leveling.
Glitch Techniques (Any% Only)
Clip Skip: On Floor 3, there is a wall near the Fae Wilds entrance that can be clipped through by sprinting into it at a 45-degree angle while dodge-rolling. This skips the entire first zone. Double Loot: Opening a chest and immediately pausing the game causes the game to register the loot twice when unpaused. Works on most non-boss chests. Cutscene Skip: On Floor 2, pressing Start + A simultaneously on the exact frame the Twin Wardens' health bars appear skips the mid-fight cutscene. This saves 45 seconds and is the most important skip in the first 10 floors.Recommended Practice Order
